I’m not sure if you all know, but my husband is also a photographer. There are so many reasons why I love shooting events with him, but one main one is how different his eye is from mine. Below are some shots he took of an old General Mortors truck in Key West. I love the grittiness of these images. It matches perfectly with the vintage feel of the car.
This past week my husband and I took a much needed vacation to the Florida Keys. We stayed with some friends in Marathon, but decided to drive down to Key West for the afternoon. There is a lot to see in Key West, like Hemingway’s home, Sloppy Joe’s Bar (where Hemingway use to frequent and helped name), but I think our favorite stop was Old Town Bakery. This old-world style bakery was several blocks off Duval street (the famous street that runs north and south through Key West from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean). This was our kind of shop. Not touristy, very quaint and had amazing sandwiches (and chocolate chip cookies!). Definitely worth checking out if you are ever in Key West.
For the past 34 years Capital Church in Vienna, VA celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ at the Lincoln Memorial (a sunrise service) with close to 6,000 other people. Such a quintessential DC way to celebrate Easter.

This past week my husband and I went camping at Lake Moomaw in SW Virginia. We had such a good time (photos to come soon), but this has to be one of my favorite shots. How about this for a clear night!
This past Saturday I was able to attend my friend Allison’s daughters (Charlotte) 1st birthday at the Silver Spring Civic Building. (Check out the newborn photos I took of Charlotte a year ago here.) The party couldn’t have gone better. Not only did Allison and her Mom have one heck of a spread, but Charlotte got to try her first piece of cake. Adorable, right? Happy Birthday Charlotte! This week Facebook finally rolled out “timeline” for business pages. I, for one, was excited to see this. I think the new look is great. Not only does it allow for up-front visual content, but also tells a more complete story about your business. Here you’ll see a sample image from my new timeline, but head over to Facebook to check out my page: https://www.facebook.com/kami.swingle.photography
